A message from Steve Sterba:
Last year, almost 140,000 people in the United States were diagnosed with leukemia, lymphoma or myeloma. This year, leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma will cause the deaths of an estimated 53,240 people in the United States.
My friend John Schwartz was one of those people.
John was a good friend, a great father and husband, an exceptional restaurateur and an incredible community patron, whose life was cut short by multiple myeloma. My campaign to raise $25,000-plus for The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS) is dedicated to John and to the LLS Oregon Girl of The Year, Elisa Suarez. Elisa was diagnosed with leukemia at the age of seven. Now age ten, Elisa is happily in remission, due in part to the life-saving research and support provided by LLS. To learn more about Elisa’s battle, take a few minutes to view her video story on this page.
